online gallery redesign
Robert St Croix — contemporary bronze sculpture gallery
Objective: to improve site's performance and eliminate potential issues.
Before redesign
Previous look of the gallery
Problems
Poor navigation and categorization. The main problem previous designer was struggling with was to create clear structure helping visitors to navigate among dozens of images. One of the reasons for this confusion is, most of sculptures in the gallery belongs to two or more categories (i.e. figurative and religious). In addition, the gallery wasn't update for years because the owner didn't have any access to the site's back-end.
Solution
The site was rebuilt in different CMS (Joomla!), which gives a possibility to build a navigation based on tags and related content. In addition, the client can update the gallery using the front-end editor. During this phase, the artwork was properly described to enhance accessibility and SEO. The site and internal links were rebuilt to improve search engine results.
After redesign
The look is cleaner and user experience is improved by enlarging thumbnails while giving easy access to intuitive navigation
